Reebok 9KO Hockey Stick

The National Hockey League and the Hockey World got its taste for a new composite stick designed by Reebok last night. Pavel Datsyuk of the Detroit Red Wings used the new Reebok 9KO for the first time.
The one piece composite stick features holes in the shaft of the stick that make it 20% more aerodynamic than current solid shaft models.
UPDATE: December 11/2006
According to a call that I placed to Reebok/CCM headquarters in Montreal this morning, the Reebok 9KO stick is set to hit store shelves on March 1, 2007 with a lofty retail price of $330-350 USD.
The hockey equipment representative from Reebok that I was speaking with was very tight-lipped about the new stick and would not divulge any more information. This is a great marketing tactic by Reebok, keeping the hype at a high level surrounding the new 9KO stick.
UPDATE: December 15/2006 - A better picture can be seen here.
UPDATE: February 1/2007 - Datsyuk has been using the new RBK 9KO for over a month now and has said that it feels very strong and gives him more power on his shots.

i am 14 year old and I play ice hockey in finland and i want try new stick rbk 9ko
Jorad on Fri, 29th Dec 2006 8:23 pm
This new hockey stick looks very apppealing to me and I think if the price were to be $150, RBK would make alot more money than selling this stick at $250. Anyways, it’s a very nice stick. You might think it will break easily because it has the holes in it but, NO it dosn’t. It’s as strong as any other composite and/or alluminum stick.
Happy New Year,
Jorad

Tyler on Sat, 13th Jan 2007 10:02 am
Thank you for your comments!
Unfortunately, we do not have any prototypes of the RBK 9K0 to let people try out.
Please contact Reebok hockey if you are interested in a prototype model. I am not sure what their policy is on testing prorotypes, but most companies use professional leagues and players to test their new gear.
Thanks again!

I think that all of you that have posted are crazy because the stick is soooo heavy because they have to add more compisite to reinforce those holes and really how aerodynamic do you need you stick to be!?
I never new a hockey stick to have that much drag that you need to put holes in it just to make it move better..
If you ask me i think that RBK is stupid for puttin a stick like that out because if you want to make your stick more aerodynamic then just drill about a hundred little holes in it and away you go!!
any way i just had to get that off my chest because i think that the stick is way overrated and nobody should even be able to play with it.!!!!!
jj on Mon, 29th Jan 2007 5:58 pm
Personally i hate rbk. But i like the stick, I also think its a bad idea because every brand will start doing it and i like my good ol vapor 30 lite.

I think the holes are a stupid gimmick and will make no improvment. Think about it, if there are holes in a hollow stick, they will still use the same amount of graphite, if not more. All this is, is another way to cheat people to make money
Josh on Sun, 25th Mar 2007 2:38 pm
Hey, this ‘O’ Stick from RBK looks like it would break very easily, but thats not what I heard, I heard it is stronger than a regular stick. When will they come to Canada, Halifax. I want one for myself. Also how much is it?

aNDREW on Fri, 30th Mar 2007 11:11 am
ANYONE KNOW HOW MUCH THIS WEIGHS? THANX
Steven on Fri, 30th Mar 2007 2:56 pm
The ‘O’ Stick feels around the same as a Easton Stealth Hockey Stick.
clinton on Thu, 5th Apr 2007 6:27 pm
well i think that it would be good to lower the price of the o-stick because more people will buy it and i love hockey and the stick but i just cant afford it and im sure there are more people like me
shannon on Sat, 7th Apr 2007 4:48 pm
i bet the o-stick is awesome but the price is… well its about 35 weeks of allowance and i need a new stick that is good for me and if the price wasnt so high i would have the o-stick p.s lower the prices.

How much is the New RBK 9k0 stick worth in Canada?
chris on Tue, 1st May 2007 5:43 pm
yeah im 15 and i agree if the stick was 150 they would make a lot more money!! When is the 9ko coming out thats what i want to know because i need a new stick and if its coming out soon i will wait and buy a woody and then buy it!!!
Matt on Fri, 11th May 2007 10:31 am
This stick is insane…it’s needs 2 head it’s way 2 sault ste marie MI
josh on Sat, 12th May 2007 9:03 pm
i think this stick looks really ugly. i would rather get one of those synergy elites
Mitch on Sun, 15th Jul 2007 6:31 pm
heya! im from NZ and this stick is cheap compared to some sticks over here!
to the guy that askd how much it weight i think it weighs bowt 395grams! bowt the same as the 7k!
this stick is awesome!! i reckon its worth its price!! rbk r the first company to bring out a stick with holes in it!! thats awesome!! if they lower the price the company may not make any profits of it! in New Zealand most shops dont make profit of their sticks so we get them cheap from what we did about 2 years ago!!
anyway thats just wat i have to say!! lol
domenic on Sat, 28th Jul 2007 10:03 pm
Just got one. It is awesome!
Hockey dad on Tue, 4th Sep 2007 2:58 pm
I’m a hockey dad. When it’s time to buy hockey equipment, it’s very hard to tell your kid that wants all the new hockey stuff that he can’t have because ” you are a young hockey player and that 9k0 stick at @300.00 is way too expensive for your caliber. A normal hockey stick will do the same”. All the hype is not aimed at the top level players but to young lads thinking that without that stick, they will fail.

leske on Thu, 1st Nov 2007 4:58 pm
this stick is waaaaaaaaay over priced
RYAN F on Sun, 18th Nov 2007 4:42 pm
yo this stick is the bomb..get it i have one and i just got the new stealth 17 …..the RBK is much better
Hockey Dad on Wed, 2nd Jan 2008 3:04 pm
My 10 year old got this stick and liked it very much, but the blade chipped out and delaminated at the toe after about 2 months of use. Thought this RBK would be better than the 3 Eastons he broke last season (when he was 9) but I guess even a $200 cdn stick doesn’t last forever…or for 2 months !!
Ontario Hockey Dad/ Coach on Thu, 14th Feb 2008 11:02 pm
Well, my son is now using the new 9K-O and let me tell you something…. it’s sweet. A little heavier than his Easton Stealth but the weight is ‘end loaded’ and the final blade velociity on his shot has increased as a result. I’m sure that the holes have less to do with it than the change in center balance of the stick. With the increased material to ’strengthen’ at the holes, you also change the flex point which he and I will both attest, adds to increased velocity and control. He’s an average to small 11 year old and I’m sorry but… this stick DOES add to his shot. I bought it primarily due to the Datsyuk blade ( 5.5 lie, closed face, mid curve) since this is FAR MORE IMPORTANT that a price….. but was REALLY impressed with the stick as a whole. You DO get what you pay for folks…..

My God does anyone use a wooded stick anymore? My personal favorite growing up and to this day because I have a few left is the TITAN SuperPro….followed by HESPELER and Bending Branches. I used the stiff shafts because of my slapshot. These three brands were great. I just can’t get used to these composites.
