Anson Carter Is Oiling Up!

Right winger Anson Carter is joining the Edmonton Oilers training camp on a NHL pro try-out.

Carter, who split the 2006-07 season between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Carolina Hurricanes, will join the Oilers training camp today.

The 6’1”, 210-pound native of Toronto, Ontario scored 11-17-28 with 18 PIM in 64 games with Columbus and Carolina last season. Carter, 33, scored his 200th career NHL goal and 400th point while with the Blue Jackets and has career totals of 202-219-421 with 229 PIM in 674 games during a 10 season NHL career.

Carter began his NHL career with the Washington Capitals in 1996-97 and has played for eight different teams over his career, including the Oilers.

Carter played three seasons with Edmonton, scoring 69-88-157 with 68 PIM in 211 games between 2000-01 and 2002-03. He came to the Oilers on November 15, 2000 as part of a deal that saw Bill Guerin go the Boston Bruins, and was sent to the New York Rangers, along with Ales Pisa, on March 11, 2003 in exchange for Cory Cross and Radek Dvorak.
