Bauer Vapor X60 Skates

Bauer has spent the past 80 years researching, testing and building some of the best hockey skates the world has ever seen.
Having said that, the engineers at Bauer have once again pushed the limits of style and comfort with the new Vapor X:60 skate. Even Bauer’s previous skate, the highly touted Vapor XXXX, are not as high-tech of an ice hockey skate as the innovative Vapor X60.
With a renewed emphasis on speed and agility in the National Hockey League, pro players have been pushing manufacturers to respond with a “faster skate” …and it doesn’t get any faster than the Vapor X:60’s!
Bauer X60 Features
- The newly designed boot features a new tech mesh construction with a thermoformed crosshatched pattern for structural support and superior performance. The patented anatomical heel and ankle support is designed to enhance foot position and the dual-density foam provides comfort and protection throughout the boot.
- Bauer spent considerable time on the newly designed molded tongue, making it more protective and comfortable than previous models. The design and lack of comfort of the tongue was one of the main points of criticism of Vapor skates in the past.
- A full carbon composite outsole, featuring a built in lace bite channel, abrasion resistant material and high-density metatarsal guard round out the features of the exterior of the boot.
- As usual, Bauer Vapor skates offer a heat moldable boot for a customized fit along with the Tuuk Lightspeed 2 holder and LS2 stainless steel blades.

Shawn on Mon, 13th Apr 2009 11:23 am
I’m not so sure, I just sold my ONE90s and I loved them I baked them once and had great fit but they felt a little too stiff and the insole has no protection because everyday after a game the bottom of my feet would hurt very bad. My advice would be to try both pair on and walk around in them for about 10 minutes each. I personally am still undecided on which new skate I want to purchase.. GOOD LUCK and tell me what you think of each skate..
Shawn on Mon, 13th Apr 2009 11:25 am
My ONE90s had horrible cushioning in the footbed & the inside part of the ankle…
slegehame6 on Mon, 13th Apr 2009 2:52 pm

u+ skates are shit. bad boot and horrible holders. the x60’s are awesome, although they are heavier than the xxxx’s.
hockeylax22 on Sun, 3rd May 2009 3:45 pm
60 are terrible. The new thread inside the boot rips! Your better spending a few hundred bucks less on the xxxx’s! There lighter
hayden on Wed, 6th May 2009 3:38 pm
if the 60’s are anyhting like the xxxx then there not very good, they’ll kill your feet
emerica on Thu, 7th May 2009 12:27 pm
Neither the one95s or the X:60s suck. Each line is built for different styled players and foot types.

oldschool on Mon, 11th May 2009 9:56 pm
Got the x60s when they first came out. Very light, great comfortable fit. Took a little getting used to the stiffness and feel of forward lean compared to my last skates but once I was used to them everything seemed faster and more agile. My only complaint is the silver trim material around the lace holes is peeling back in one spot and the felt material around the edge of the tongue is fraying more than I think it should be for this small amount of usage. I’m really hoping there don’t turn out to be durability problems with these ultra-expensive skates!
hockey8 on Tue, 12th May 2009 5:47 pm
Has anyone tried both the vapor x:50 and vapor x:60? Or if u heard anything about them. Is there a big difference or no? Any imformation would be great.
Adam on Wed, 13th May 2009 10:27 am
I purchased a pair of x60 the day they were released. Later I noticed the holder and blade are not perfectly straight. I had them replaced and the replacement skates had a similar problem. The retailer showed me several with the similar holder issues that were being sent back. Was this a bad week at the factory or has anyone else experienced this?
Thomas on Fri, 15th May 2009 1:09 am
For those tied up between One95 vs Vapor60 – I have played 20+ games in the One95’s -so far my flat feet caused brutal issues from rotating inwards in the boot – this was fixed by adding in Graf insoles (very similar to Superfeet) waaay better than the crummy pad factory sends – the new Vapor 60’s seem to come with the good insoles…also had a loonie size crush issue on my One95 boot from shotblocking, prob wouldnt happen with the Vapor boot materiel. Performance wise though? They rock. MUCH better fit than One90’s – Noticable diff when pulling quick turns for sure! Hope this helps.
tyler on Wed, 20th May 2009 12:50 am
the x60 are a combo with the 30s boot and 40s stength for lasting a long time there a great boot

Looking to buy my hubby some skates, but don’t have the slightest clue on where to begin. After reading all the above comments there are skates geared toward different skaters. I know he is looking for ligtweight, good heal support and he prefers not to wear socks right now so he can “feel” the ice more. He is also in to speed. Anyone have suggestions? I also would rather not spend $600 on the new X60s. Was hoping to do more like $350 or so.
Thanks

I started skating again last year after 4 years not skating. I had old fedorov white nike skates. Everyone else had all these new lite, expensive skates. I decided to purchase a new pair of skates to stay competitive.
First I bought the Bauer One 90’s. Very lite and fancy. Absolutely horrible skate to skate in. Killed my feet couldln’t stand up after taking them off and they left welts in my ankles because they sat to low and to stiff I assume.
Then I bought some easton synergy 1500c. Nice looking skate lite in weight but I just felt off balance and could never get in a groove with them on the ice.
My last attempt to find a skate was the vapor line. As my buddy kept telling me how much he loved his xxxx’s and how comfortable they were. Well he was right I’m skating better than ever, comfortably as ever, and truly happy with them. there will be no other skate for me other than the vapor line.

should i get the one 95 which i wanted since the start of this year
but now the x60 came out
and i don’t know which ones to get
who ever iv asked they said the vapor x60
but i just cannot decide
any opinions?
or opinions from using the skate before?

Are these made in Canada or China, like the XXXX’s?
Jamie on Tue, 16th Jun 2009 4:50 am
I have both pairs, the one95s and the x:60s, you can’t really compare them as one being better than the other its personal preference. I have not skated in the x:60s as long as ive only recently got them, the one95s seem a very stable skate and makes you feel very strong on the ice. the x:60s seem very agile and i’m not sure which i’m faster in although it seems to be the x:60s
John on Thu, 25th Jun 2009 9:59 am
I have a pair of the one95s and the x60, my biggest problem with the one95s after using them for the last year is I skate very foward and I found the only way to get that Foward motion was to not tie my laces up all the way, this caused my ankle to hit the eyelits and started causing pain. I also noticed because the boot was so stiff my knees were sore after a game. The x60s appear to be the right skate for me, I feel that I have more power and mobility with the laces tied normal. Knee and ankle pain gone. I did notice a small change in the blade length but the x60 can use the 2.1 blade. The weight differance in the x60 I don’t notice.

My Bantom minor son just got the 50’s. He had 40’s last 2 years and didn’t like the heal cup on the 60’s or the 195’s.
Same thing about three years back, he was in eastons and when they changed the heal after the 1500’s he switched to the vapor 40’s.
As usual, spent an hour and a half at The Hockey Shop in Binghamton NY, just like an eye doctor appt, better or worse.
Make sure you try all of them on, don’t just buy without comparing them on your feet. At 500-650 bucks (US) you may waste a lot of cash.

is there much of a difference between the x60 and x50? i heard there wasnt much in performance wise comments would help please
DragonHockey on Wed, 29th Jul 2009 11:29 am
The difference between the x:60 and the x:50 is first of all the price, different outersoles, liners, tongues, and ankle padding. The X:50 has more of a mesh padding like some graf skates while the x:60 has a what bauer calls a hydro max liner that is softer and is better at keeping your foot in place. For more go to bauer.com to compare these skates.

I bought the X60’s when they came out in April. I have since played a full season of summer hockey. I came from CCM, and have wider feet. The One95’s fit more narrow than the X60’s. For the most part, I like the skates. The only problem is that the inner liner is tearing right by the islet (after the 3rd skate). My friend bought the same pair around the same time, and is experiencing the same issues. It sounds like a known problem with these skates.

if your deciding if u shouldnt get the x 60s because of the price u should get them. the are very very comfortable. and feel great when u skate. i think they are worth the price

The X60 are newer version of the Vapor XXX which was the best skate Bauer ever made. My son plays Midget AAA and thinks the X60 are even better than the XXX.

i love my x:60’s. i got them a few weeks ago and they have made me way faster. the only problem to me is when i first tep on the ice they are a little wobbly

After a 12-year hiatus from hockey, I’m playing again and stoked! But I needed to get equipped from the ground up. When it came to skates I tried the One95’s and knew right away – nop. Then the Vapor X-60’s. Felt good and very comfortable straight away. After ~15 minutes of walking around and flexing, kicking, shuffling, and the sorts I told them to heat’m up. First skate for 1.5 hours – no pain, no blisters, or soreness the next day! These skates are impressive. Light weight, balanced, aggressive stance for speeed and cutting sharp. I have played hockey for 25 years since the age of 5 growing up in Saskatchewan – Canada. A+

I was at the pro shop yesterday to get new skates and the guy there said that there was not a big difference between the x40s and the x60s. I was wondering if the x60s are worth 200$ extra.
JT on Thu, 1st Oct 2009 12:31 am
the main differences between the x:40’s and x:60’s will be the liner, insole, outsole, tongue, and all around stiffness of the boot. the holder and runner are the same as far as i know. the liner in the x:60 is more durable and better at keeping moisture out. the insole is designed to offer better support and grip while there is a cushion for your heal. the outsole is stronger and the tongue has a lacebite channel. The boot will also be a bit stiffer. not sure if the holder on the bottom of the skate is precision mounted or not on the x:40 but if the price doesn’t bother you i know that the x:50 is a very comparable skate to the x:60 main difference being the liner. I just bought x:60’s and love them…im on the ice 4 times a week. had them for 2 weeks and still very stiff. i wouldn’t recommend getting something that stiff unless u plan to work hard at working them in…all around a fantastic skate…a little heavier than the vapor XXXX though (hardly noticeable)
JT on Thu, 1st Oct 2009 12:42 am
also for everyone debating between the one95 or the x:60. they are built for two different styles of play. the one95 is a narrower fit so you are not likely to be the same width in both skates. if you are a D width in a vapor you should probably try a EE in the supremes. the one95’s will be tighter around the top of the ankle and support a more stand-up style of skating. they also have longer radius on the runner than the vapors so they offer more stability and better glide. the vapors will be more open at the top of the ankle allowing for a more crouched style of skating and have a 9 foot radius on the runner which allows for more agility (quick turns). when trying on skates GET SIZED AT A PRO SHOP. DO NOT GO BY SHOE SIZE. a proper fit should have your toes as close to the front as is comfortable. touching the cap and comfortable is perfect. as you crouch to skate your toes will pull away from the cap and you will get the most energy transfer out of your skates. the bigger they are the sloppier they will feel and the less energy will actually be transfered to the ice. hope this helps
Danny on Sat, 10th Oct 2009 8:01 pm
Don’t go with either of these skates, they both suck. Personally, all bauer skates aren’t very comfortable although very light, will hurt your feet. Everyone think that grafs suck because they hurt your feet at first. But, once you stop being a little girl and fight through the pain for about 10 games, you’ll find that they are the most comfortable skates you have ever tried. I would recomend getting the graf ultra G:75 with T-blades. The are as light as the bauer XXXX, X:60 and the ONE95’s but they are more comfortale long term, and provide most stability and support around he ankle.
Fran on Wed, 18th Nov 2009 10:15 am

Lana on Thu, 26th Nov 2009 9:51 am
What is the difference between the Bauer X:60 and X:50, other than price?
Brent on Wed, 16th Dec 2009 4:15 am
Just bought the Bauer X:50’s a month back and I like them very much. The X60 are overkill and you do not need to spend the extra money on them unless your skating 4-5 times a week. The X:60 have a little better padding material inside by the ankles. The X:0 are stiffer though then the X50’s. For Bauer I found out as the X number goes up the stiffer the boot is. I would not waste the extra money on the X:60, I would just buy the X:50 or even X:40’s. The X50 and X60s look the same from the outside so no one will know which one you have. Stiffer boot is not always the best way to go. Hope that helps.

Did danny 4 posts above^ suggest t-blades?? AAhhhahahaha! If your asking what kind of skates to purchase on a msg board just shoot yourself, go to a proshop and talk with the ppl that deal with skates everyday. They should be able to use your skill/usage factors to narrow your search down. Or you should just get skates with dual blades

jim on Sun, 17th Jan 2010 5:13 pm
the x 60s and 0ne 95 are advanced skates for powerful skaters, the one 95 is discontinued, the vapor x 60 is bauers top of the line retail skate and stiffer than the one 95, bauers skates are neutral meaning you control the pitch and if you are familiar with the one third principal in skating theres no problem,if your an intermediate skater dont get x 60,s to stiff advanced skaters can flex a boot

Hey guys,
I am about to buy a new pair of skates. Was all set to spend about 450 Canadian dollars (tax In) on a brand new pair of vapor xxxx’s. This was untill last night when I discovered I could find brand new x60’s online (w/ factory warranty) for a total of about 510 Canadian..is the extra 60something dollars definitely worth it for the X60s? Would love to hear from somebody.
Thanks!
