Chris Simon is looking at some serious press box time after cheap shotting Ryan Hollweg.  Hollweg hit Simon into the boards and it appears that Simon completely lost his marbles, proceeding to slash Hollweg in the face.
I haven’t seen a vicious attempt to injure in the NHL quite this blatent in a long time.  Simon should receive a multiple game suspension for this incident.

Update from Kukla’s: Some reactions from both Simon and Hollweg on on the incident.

“I’ve always been known as a clean guy and I just feel bad for letting my team down,” Simon said. “I just don’t really want to say anything about the incident right now because I have to talk with the league first.”
Hollweg did not express anger at Simon.
“I’m a little surprised,” Hollweg said. “As far as I knew we respected each other as hockey players and that’s it. I just play my game. And playing my game helped us win, so that’s good.”

Simon should be gone for the rest of this season and a good part of next year as well.

Hopefully this is the end of his NHL career just like McSorley.

Bad timing for Simon, great timing for the NHL. I would expect a huge suspension, perhaps even a lifetime ban.
