We recently reported what may be the new Washington Capitals 2007-2008 Jerseys and now, via e-mail, we have a preliminary image of the possible Reebok Edge jersey style for the Detroit Red Wings.
If you want a new RBK Edge Jersey for next season, you can order your favorite team’s jersey at IceJerseys.com

I had the hockey fans in my family vote–2 for, 1 against (gee, wasn’t that tonight’s final score?!). It’s some kind of omen.

If a jersey that looks like this goes live, then I guess I don’t know what the NHL is coming to. With all the problems the league has with promoting the sport, they want to aggrivate their loyal fans to boot now apparently. Smooth move Betman, smooth.
I can understand a new physical design and a different fit, but you don’t change an original 6 jersey design just for the hell of it. And the word is the names and numbers aren’t even going to be stitched on but silk screened or pressed or something lame like that. Talk about generic, people will be turning over in their graves in at least six cities if that happens.
Call me a traditionalist if you want, but the color scheme and line desing should stay the same. You can’t tell me they can’t just put the classic design layout on the new jersey. Theres no need to go overboard and screw up a sharp looking sweater. The Wings jerseys are some of the best in the league, and that thing in this picture is an atrocity.
Someone replace Gary Betman please! All he knows how to do is screw up a good thing, Don Cherry could do better, and thats not saying much. Pretty soon this sport will be as popular in North America as soccer with this clown running things.

I feel that they should just put the old layouts and designs on the new RBK Edge uniforms as well…at least for the original six teams.

I agree, tradition is a big, no huge part of the NHL and not all changes are for the best. I think original 6 teams should be let alone, thats just my .02…

I think these new jerseys look sharp. You can argue that the wings jersey has a great tradition, but its not as if the jersey has never been changed before. By updating every other teams jerseys and leaving the original 6 alone, it would not be honoring a tradition, it would be leaving the original 6 in the merchandising dust of the rest of the league. I Will be disapointed if they names/numbers are silk screen tho.

Orginal 6 or not.. the your jersey should change. Its not the same team it was years ago, why should it be the same jersey. They arnt changin the name, just the way the jersey looks. I think its a great idea, most of the teams are well over due for a logo change

the original 6 teams should have been left alone. Th e only smart team in this league are the montreal canadiens they didn’t change a thing that’s why they have the nicest jerseys in the nhl.

the thing that pisses me off the most, is the fact that, at least for the red wings, the have moved the captain and alternate captain letters to the other side of the jersey. i dont see what the point of that is and to me, it just takes away from the jersey and the tradition that follows it. change can be a good thing, but not this time.

It was written in the Detroit Free Press that the C and A letters had to be switched to the other side of the jersey because a seam in the new design ran right through the letter. It wasn’t a move the organization suggested, it was something Reebok said had to be done. The article also said that Reebok sent the team a number of prototypes and the owner rejected them, saying he wanted the jersey to remain as unchanged as possible.

So you’re saying Reebok is forcing the team to accommodate it?! I will never buy such jerseys as they show the absolute greed of a company, with no ties or history in the sport, coming in to make as much money as thoughtlessly as possible without regard to tradition. But then, I guess it’s perfect for the NHL which long ago sold its heart to appeal to a disinterested market.
