This post stems from a great response to a ranting comment about the New Reebok Edge Uniforms.
Rather than attempting to summarize the comments, I will post the original comment and a great response to the comment.

Drury is an idiot!! These jerseys are disgusting!!!! Boycott the NHL in 2007-08!!!!!!. Don’t buy the Center Ice Package, do not buy any new memorabilia especially the new spacesuit jerseys!!! do not attend any NHL games. Let the NHL know that Gary’s NHL sucks!! Bettman is a schmuck!!!

You have a lot of pent up frustration it seems. If Drury likes the jersey and has seen a difference, who the hell are you to say differently? Of course a large part of this image is to sell sell and sell – the NHL has no TV money coming in like the NFL or MLB or NBA so what’s the big deal – don’t buy it. I am as big an NHL fan there is but I don’t need to prove it to anyone by buying overpriced jersey’s. But I would not call for a boycott. If people are stupid enough to pay that money then that is their business. If you are just upset Rob because you can’t afford it then just say so – if the NHL games are too expensive for you to attend then just say so – there is no shame in that. Hockey can be an expensive sport to play and to be a fan of. Who really care’s what the jersey looks like that they play in? You call for a boycott in 07-2008. Why wait until then if you are so angry? I’m not saying the NHL is perfect but what would you do to fix things? You just complained – and about new jersey’s of all things that don’t look a whole hell of a lot different than what they are wearing now. Offer some solutions – enlighten us, please. Tell us how the NHL can compete with the NFL and NBA and don’t say by moving all the teams but a select few to Canada because that is a nice thought for me, but let’s face it – totally unrealistic!!

I want to know your suggestions for improving the marketing of the National Hockey League. The comments are open and I look forward to hearing your suggestions.

I would start by getting rid of Bettman and putting someone in his shoes that knows what fans want, and what the game is all about…

    and start by going to:

    http://www.FireBettman.com

Join together to help get rid of the man who is ruining hockey!!!!!!

I must agree that I am not all for Bettman, but a website dedicated to his demise shows a very strong passion for your beliefs.

I agree the time has come to relieve Bettman from his duties or his destruction of the sport of Hockey. It was bad enough we went the Alan Eagleson era. Thanks to the work of Russ Conway we got through that crap. Now the NHL has this person to deal with. It is time get some people who KNOW the sport back in the drivers seat. The reffs are having to call infractions that are making the game a sissy sport. The salary cap I am lost on that one. Here is sport the you have to do more things than you do in BaseBall or Football. Marketing it would be easy if Hockey was Hockey once again.
