Kor Shift 2 Skates

Kor Hockey Ltd. have just released the follow-up skate to their Shift 1 model, called Shift 2. The Kor Shift skates are designed differently from most skates in the fact that they have a one piece molded base called the *Unibase that is anatomically designed to support the arch, ankle, and forefoot better than traditional skates.
The anatomically designed Kor skate claims to increase power transfer through the skating stride as well as provide increased agility. Some of the performance enhancement is due to the position of the foot within the skate and the relation of the boot to the skate blade, while the lighter construction accounts for additional performance.
Here are some of the key features of the Kor Skates:
1. Unibase™ Engineered using 3-dimensional, optical-laser censoring systems, Kor creates an anatomical, thermal-reactive foot shape. Precision contouring that integrates human anatomy and machine-made steel results in the exponential transfer of kinetic energy from muscle to ice.
2. Protective Skin The single-layer protective cover, reinforced with strategic silicon impact zones, reduces the overall bulk and weight found in other skates.
3. Toe Glove™ The Toe Glove™ is designed for the purpose of both protecting the foot from direct, frontal impact while providing a custom fit feel during intense performance.
4. Diamond-Backed Tongue Designed like the curved pattern cut of a baseball, the tongue’s 3-dimensional shape provides strategic flex zones with thermo-reactive EVA.The Kor warranty program.
Kor will warranty the boot of the skate for 90 days from the original date of purchase for any manufacturing defects in material and workmanship. The blade and blade holder of the skate are covered under warranty for one year.
Kor Hockey Ltd. also indicates that, former Calgary Flame, Joel Otto is a member of their advisory board of directors.

What a shame if they did. They are one of the startup companies in hockey that I really thought had a shot to make it, but they were forced to move their manufacturing at the worst possible time: during a major downturn in the American economy. That’s a huge part of their potential sales base that’s hurting for disposable income.
