Look Out Saskatchewan:The NHL Is Coming!

NHL Digest just received the following information from the Calgary Flames:

The Saskatoon Blades and the Calgary Flames announced today that the City of Saskatoon, SK will host a National Hockey League pre-season game on Tuesday, September 18th, 2007 between the Calgary Flames and the Florida Panthers.

“We are extremely excited to host the Calgary Flames in Saskatoon next September,” said Blades President & Governor Jack Brodsky.

“Saskatchewan has a strong tradition of developing players for the National Hockey League and it is with great pride that we welcome some of those players back home in their NHL uniforms. It especially exciting to partner with the Calgary Flames on this venture as they have very similar community minded values as the Blades organization. Not only are we providing NHL action to our fans but we are able to do it in such a manner that assists important charitable causes in our own backyard.”

Calgary Flames and Saskatoon Blades season ticket holders will have the opportunity to advance purchase tickets from December 13-16th before tickets are available to the general public on December 19th. Tickets range in price from $15-50 and are available through Ticketmaster at Ticketmaster.ca ( http://www.ticketmaster.ca/ ) .

“We are extremely appreciative of the support we receive from Saskatchewan and are proud to consider the province Flames territory,” said Flames President & CEO Ken King.

“This gives us an opportunity to not only reach out to those loyal Flames fans in Saskatchewan and say thank you but also to put back financial support to minor hockey and the WHL educational fund. We are also very excited to bring the NHL to one of Canada’s true hockey communities.”

Other activities and events surrounding the Flames visit to Saskatoon will be announced in the months leading up to the game versus the Florida Panthers.

I know there are some rowdy hockey fans in Saskatoon and this is an awesome opportunity for the province to show the NHL and the rest of the hockey world just how great the hockey fans are in Saskatchewan!

UPDATE: According to the Saskatoon Star Phoenix and the Saskatoon Blades, the game is all but sold out!  What an amazing province of hockey fans!
