New RBK 9KO Reebok Hockey Stick

New RBK 9KO Reebok Hockey Stick If you have been following NHL Digest recently you will know that we have been very interested in the New Reebok Hockey stick, used by Pavel Datsyuk, with holes in the shaft.

In our previous posts on the Reebok 9KO stick, which is due to hit store shelves on March 1, 2007, we included a less than perfect picture. Well, we have finally located a better image to show you!

This new image, courtesy of the hockey pros at Mod Squad Hockey.com, clearly reveals the holes in the shaft of the stick, which is supposed to make the RBK 9KO 20% more aerodynamic than other sticks.

What do you think of the stick? How durable do you think it will be? Will the holes in the shaft really make it that much better or is it just a marketing ploy by Reebok?

You can now order the RBK 9K ‘O’ Stick from Hockey Giant

the composite stick has already been perfected. reebok is just trying to leave an impression on the hockey world by bringing out the stupidest thing ive ever seen.

  3. phil on Thu, 21st Dec 2006 9:29 pm

how much is the stick going to cost??

  4. Tyler on Thu, 21st Dec 2006 10:42 pm

    phil,
I have heard rumors that the stick will retail for somewhere around $250.00 USD. That is not set in stone, but it is the number I have been hearing that number from a couple of sources.
    I hope that helps.

  8. George Malik on Sun, 21st Jan 2007 9:25 pm

Unless this adds durability to the stick, composites are so advanced that reducing wind resistance at this scale has less to do with faster shots and more with Reebok showing what its R&D department can do.

  9. Bobby on Tue, 23rd Jan 2007 10:13 am

This is a sweet stick by far the best stick i have ever seen

  10. maroons on Sun, 28th Jan 2007 6:10 pm

This is a bunch of crap.. just like the jersey propoganda. Sure, the stick may have 20% less drag in a wind tunnel environment in perfect conditions but it’s useless in game situations to make such a claim. Plus, in absolute terms, the drag on a hockey stick isn’t that significant so a 20% reduction of near nothing is still near nothing. All it is is hype… the Reynolds number is so low on a hockey stick it’s a joke. I wish these sporting goods companies would actually get some aerodynamics guys that got higher than C’s in college. It works in cycling because of speed and relative uniform flow… it doesn’t mean crap with players skating (arms moving, bodies twisting and turning) or when shoot pucks. Better yet, lets keep these dropout aero guys in the sporting goods business, they could be dangerous if they actually worked on airplanes.

  11. sensrock on Mon, 29th Jan 2007 11:10 am

This stick might be a good looking stick and it may have all that 20% reduce stuff but if someone was to use the stick how would it hold up you think it would break because of the holes….

  12. pensfreak on Fri, 2nd Feb 2007 8:09 am

Hey man what a nice stick i wish i could buy 1 but it is probly about 600$. Awell i will try my best to get 1. The holes in the stick is sweet it the best idea ever.GO PENS GO

  13. Jason Lundell on Sat, 3rd Feb 2007 11:03 am

I think it might be a good idea. i just do not know by putting the holes in it if you then sacrifice the strength. and that is a important part of the game you need to know that your stick will be able to endure the beating it is going to take!!!! well i guess i will have to wait till it comes to the stores!!!!!!!

  14. rangers14 on Sat, 3rd Feb 2007 11:23 am

acually, believe it or not, the holes in the stick would make the stick stronger. and i even remeber seeing this on tv during a red wings avs game and they said that. since the holes aren’t that spaced apart, the composite parts in between the holes have small space so it makes it more compaact and instead of it being more hollow like a normal one piece composite, it has extra structure work within the holes. learned this in technology and i got an a+ :-)

  15. Tyler on Tue, 6th Feb 2007 4:18 pm

It is very interesting to hear the different opinions from the players as they try out the new Reebok RBK 9KO stick.

Many of the players are happy with the performance and Pavel Datsyuk thinks that the stick is actually stronger with the holes in it.

It’s a sweet stick…my father is the Rep for CCM and got it early…you can tell a big difference.

  18. Kiddo on Tue, 20th Feb 2007 9:25 pm

i was wondering, aside from the fact that it claims to make the stick more aerodyamic, does it affect the weight by any chance? i mean, comp. sticks these days are all about weight and lightness. also, if you look at the warrior kronik, instead of holes in the shaft it has grooves in the blade that supposedly make the your shot faster by putting air behind the puck. is warrior’s design better or does rbks 9ko work best for aerodynamics?

  19. darren young on Thu, 22nd Feb 2007 5:44 pm

This sick is amazing I want it so bad and Datsyuk has said that they don’t snap as easy. His preformance has went up with using this stick. Also the say this stick is more aerodynamic. This stick is amazing

  20. darren young on Thu, 22nd Feb 2007 5:46 pm

Kiddo they say that this stick is really light and is the best stick ever. Datsyuk speaks highly of it.

  21. Rich on Sat, 24th Feb 2007 2:01 pm

OK, the stick might be a good one, but not because of the aerodynamics…c’mon, anyone notice the big fat fan blade at the END of that sleek shaft?

  22. pete on Mon, 26th Feb 2007 10:17 pm

don’t yu all think its funny that the lighter the sticks get, and the less materials used (which obviously means less product for the company to use) the more money consumers end up paying.
that twig looks like a joke, i wouldn’t let my niece use it.

  23. this is retarted on Wed, 28th Feb 2007 8:26 pm

This is a retarted stick.. there is no need for the holes.. alone with the gay pumps.. Rbk makes the worst hockey sticks as it is… now there putting holes in hockey sticks?…thats just stupid.. looks like there tryn to bring basketball styles into hockey.. screw that… stick with warrior or Bauer for good sticks

It’s March already and I haven’t heard anything about the release of the Reebok 9ko. Is it delayed or what? Has anyone heard anything about it because they don’t even have anything on it at Reebok’s website???

This Reebok 9K0 stick looks really cool. I have found some information about it. It is going to cost about $320-350. It will hit stores march 1st. I really want to get it.

  27. Steven on Sun, 4th Mar 2007 2:55 pm

I did some looking around and they’re saying that they will get a delivery in June and you have to call for pricing. Thought this was interesting since I’ve been hearing mostly an expecting March release.

  28. Steven on Sun, 4th Mar 2007 2:57 pm

They are also calling it the O Stick HS9K rather 9ko.

  34. guillaume on Wed, 7th Mar 2007 10:09 am

considering Datsyuk (one of the best)said that is dosnt brake easy, i still dont know for sure if its strong. With the holes in it, it would make it easier to use and move around and would probably make it feel lighter beacause of the air going through the holes. but would the holes even have a big effect on the aerodynamics.

  35. Steven on Wed, 7th Mar 2007 4:13 pm

Guillaume, if you read the comments the holes make it stronger. Think about it, composites are hollow and the support around the holes makes it stronger. However, I do understand your point, Datsyuk isn’t going to bad mouth a company who let him use their product first anyways. I asked my local proshop when they expect to get the O Stick and he said April. I really don’t know when to expect the release, it’s probably better to just wait for reebok to give an “OFFICIAL” release date. By the way, there is already one on ebay!

  36. guillaume on Thu, 8th Mar 2007 12:46 am

    ya
Datsyuk probably got paid to say that it doesnt brake easy but ya it would make it stronger when you think about it. Theres more composite because it goes to the inside. and if that makes it heavier the hole would help lighten it. ill just check it out when it comes out like every one is.

Okay I need someones help. I am wanting to buy a hockey stick for my bf for his birthday. I need help finding the right one. I dont want to buy the wrong stick. I keep hearing him talk about a Datsyuk curved reebok stick. Where can I buy one? I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with this. Thanks :)

  53. kyle on Sun, 18th Mar 2007 7:27 pm

hey guys umm i need to know the exact date and price of the RBK 9K stick cuz there are a few on ebay and i wanted to know when this stick comes out and its price. If anyone knows could you please inform me

  54. ilya1710 on Mon, 19th Mar 2007 10:39 pm

The stick doesnt come out for about another 2 months. However I have 2 of them. THE REASON? Because in the state of hockey (Minnesota) at the hockey expo they were allowed to be sold. I talked to a reebok rep and he said that it was the only place to get them in the world at this point in time. With that said. I have also used one. And here are some things to realize. The holes dont make the stick any lighter than past reebok sticks. The holes actually make the stick a lot stronger. Think about what a regular composite stick is made of throughout the shaft. It is HOLLOW. Nothing to the inside. The 9k has extra support in the lower shaft area. This makes it more powerful. I can tell a huge difference in power in my shots. And the weight is about the same as a 7K. Anything else ask someone whose used one. Plus im selling the other one on ebay to make some cash.

  55. chris on Tue, 20th Mar 2007 4:37 pm

hey christa if your looking for a rbk stick for your bf with the datsyuk curve you need to figure out what model he wasnts ( 4k, 5k, 6k, 7k, or 9ko but the 9ko doesn’t come out for a month or so) then you just go to a sports store and ask one of the people for that model and the Datsyuk curve.

  56. kyleribb on Wed, 21st Mar 2007 7:46 pm

hey guys umm ya i am really anxious to get this stick i think it is gunna be awsome and if anyone wants to sell one too me for a good price then ill buy it off them

  57. kyleribb on Wed, 21st Mar 2007 7:49 pm

Hey guys (i should have put this in the last message i wrote) I am selling my used Sherwood Eclipse composite hockey stick if anyone is interested. It has a little bit of scratches and the end of the stick is chipped but other wise it is an awsome stick, i only used it 2 years until i got my synergy but now i use the sherwood as my back-up just in case.

so if anyone is interested then let me know by contacting me at the email below

I think I heard him talk about the stick with holes in it. Thats the one that isnt out yet right? I feel dumb for asking this but what is the difference between 4k, 5k, 6k, 7k, or 9ko? lol!

  59. chris on Fri, 23rd Mar 2007 9:28 am

ya the one with the holes in it isn’t out yet, and the difference between all of them i that the higher the number the better the quality and the more expensive it is. the 9ko(one with holes) is coming out pretty soon though , according to people it was supposed to come out in march but now somone said sometime in june. hope this helps!

  68. pahockeyplayer on Thu, 5th Apr 2007 10:54 pm

Think about it this way the shaft on a reg. composite stick is hallow so if u had holes its going to be more solid were the holes are at and not hallow. I think it will be stronger cuz know the holes are actually adding support.

  74. rbkLanny on Tue, 10th Apr 2007 12:07 pm

As you can tell from my name, I do like Reebok equipment. I was sold over to them by their quality products and the relatively low price tag. Some people do not seem to like rbk, but having played junior hockey and experimented with different one piece sticks, I strongly feel that rbk has superior stick technology. and the guy who tried to sound smart by talking about the Reynolds number and how the 9K O stick is a big hoax, doesn’t have a clue what he is talking about. The Reynold’s number actually deals with the origin of turbulence, and the theory of hydrodynamic stability. So the Reynold’s number on a hockey stick moving at a high rate of speed is actually extremely high. Although I’m no expert, and have never tried this stick, I really believe that the holes in the 9K O will greatly reduce drag and increase stability when shooting. If you don’t believe me, take your hockey stick (if you dont have a hockey stick, then what are you doing on this sight anyways… ) and swing it with the blade perpendicular to the ground, and then swing it with the blade parallel to the ground. There is a huge difference! Although the holes will not create an effect that is this dramatic, it will in fact help.

  75. Bobby on Thu, 12th Apr 2007 6:30 pm

Hey, yeah guys, this is a wicked out stick, my friend from Minnesota bought me one at the hockey expo. I am from canada playing Junior AA, this a a fantastic stick, you guys that are dissing RBK dont know what you guys are missing out on. 86. RBK N9N3 on Sat, 28th Apr 2007 10:20 pm

From what I have been ableto tell after using this stick for 1 month is:
-The holes do make it more aerodynamic, you can tell but not by much.
-An arc is the strongest structure known to man, each hole has two congruent arcs making the area with holes in it nearly indestructable.
-The reason they break is because the arcsin the stick are going perpindicular to the way that the stick flexes when you shoot, therefore the arc is not really supporting the leverage transfering from your hips to the shaft.
I live in MN Got the stick at the expo, and I think it gives anyone who uses it an edge against the competition.

  87. Steven on Fri, 4th May 2007 6:34 pm

Ervaa, Datsyuk isn’t covering the holes up, all he did was paint the bottom black. Several players do this so you don’t see all the slash marks. If it didn’t do anything I don’t think he would continue using it.

i just got this stick and i have not used it but i cant weight to! this stick is light weight and looks very hot!

  96. Kris on Wed, 7th Nov 2007 9:37 pm

Hockey sticks aren’t beuaty competitions man go with what you feel like getting, im a shooter so i went to hockey life in vaugn mills , and the cronik put 7-8 mph on my slapshot, the o stick did nothing .. go for perfomance and feel not looks .. perfomance helps your game not holes and looks .. btw RBK is paying datsyuk to use it and to say good things about it ..

  97. Kris on Wed, 7th Nov 2007 9:41 pm

read a something by RBK N9N3 and the inside the stealths shaft is a fiberglass oval, nearly indestructable throguhout, has something like SPYN3 technology in the blade .. it is being released in Canada mid november to late december for 315$ in senior/intermediate models only untill about February/March when the junior will be out for 289$

  98. Cody on Fri, 9th Nov 2007 5:52 pm

You guys are all retarded. I just bought one today regular flex, senior with a Datsyuk curve. It was $339.99 WITH TAX. Canadian. The one store that said they were too expensive had stealths for $350. I also have a stealth, the stealth is lighter then the o stick, the o stick is actually kind of heavy, i havnt used the o stick in a game yet and i wont be until Christmas, but still.

  99. john on Thu, 29th Nov 2007 9:21 am

Is this stick going to break right away or is it strong??!

  100. zack on Mon, 10th Dec 2007 9:04 pm

cody, you got ripped off with the stealth i’ve seen it for 190 senior iginla, and yeah the o-stick is heavy i broke it right away too.

  101. puckplaya on Mon, 17th Dec 2007 5:24 pm

    if u want a rbk stick,get a sickkick

  102. Kovalchuk Snipes on Sun, 20th Jan 2008 8:49 pm

the stick is way heavy. The new vapor, easton, and warrior sticks are so much better. Every nhler that uses rbk sticks are using the 7k sick kick, except for the ones Rbk has to pay massive amounts of money for them to use it

  103. drew schweiger on Mon, 28th Jan 2008 11:24 am

this stick is not as good as i thought it was. the stick broke right away. i am very pissed.

  104. lance94 on Wed, 6th Feb 2008 11:07 am

  110. Dylan on Tue, 25th Mar 2008 10:25 am

The 9K 0 is a piece of junk , holes dont make any difference and broke super fast and easy!!!dont buy it

  111. shut up on Sat, 5th Apr 2008 4:32 pm

the holes don’t make it break easier… it’s not hollow inside

  112. Paul on Tue, 8th Jul 2008 10:37 pm

Dude it dosent matter if you dont like it who cares. i have had mine for over a year now and it hasnt even cracked yet

  113. JET on Thu, 20th Nov 2008 8:07 am

ya i agree with phillipe reebok has made the wrong kind of sick they should of made something similar to the sickkick or a better version

  114. cody hodgson on Sun, 14th Dec 2008 11:41 pm

i dont understand why so many people want this stick. personally i think it is a scam. holes in a sticks shaft is pointless. and how much could the areodynamics possably effect someones shot. if the wind resistance is really effecting your shot go learn to shoot again.

  115. tayron on Mon, 22nd Dec 2008 5:25 pm

i have this stick its good i play with this stick 1to10 i give 8point

  116. icethug2 on Thu, 25th Dec 2008 11:54 pm

  117. caleb paczkowski on Fri, 6th Feb 2009 2:15 pm

I bought the o-stick and the first time it was used if broke. DOnt buy one, they are junk.

  118. justin on Sun, 8th Feb 2009 2:44 pm

well if they are at all as TERRIBLE as the rest of the reebok sticks…i imagine this one will just break even more than the other ones. they are garbage. all reebok sticks are.

  119. Shae on Tue, 3rd Mar 2009 3:17 pm

This stick sucks! i had two of them and they both broke. I sent the first one in for warenty cuz i thought maybe it was defected.. but it wasnt. these sticks are not worth the buck. I wanted the stick really bad and then i got it for helping my parents move. I couldnt wait to use it, i got it a month before hockey season so i had to wait to use it. It has a great shot and is very light but the blade is not on the stick well, even on a two peice becasue right where the shaft meets the blade, even on a one peice, it starts cracking and gets very week. I was at one of our very first games of the season and i got a hard pass from across the ice and the blade broke right off my stick! I will never buy a stick like this again, i now know it was a big waste of money and not worth it.

  120. Richard on Thu, 19th Mar 2009 9:02 am

This stick is nice but breaks very easily. unless u have money dont get it

  121. yuafgu on Thu, 16th Apr 2009 4:27 pm

you were rewarded you with a 350$ stick to help your OWN parents move?? woow good job, u accomplished sumthing u should have done ne way for free…spoiled much…p.s. REEBOX IS SOFT, what ever happend to the good old hockey sponsers from back in the day, does this world have to always end up screwing with the small simple details that just worked?? Oya, i also heard REEBOX is kkk, i dunno if thats tru or not, but if it is THATS FUCKED UP
