While in line, a young Russian in front of me turns around with a grin and says, “Russian vodka, da?” I notice among his sundries a bottle of Johnnie Walker Red; I reply with a smile, “Da, Russian Vodka for the American, and American whiskey for the Russian!”

He breaks out laughing and shakes my hand. “Oh, this is American whiskey? Very good! You try Russian, I try American.”
