Nike Bauer Supreme One 90 Skates

I think that both skates have a lot of great functionality to them. However, many players these days buy skates for their looks.
I like the look of the One 90 as opposed to the new Bauer Vapor XXXX, but I never really liked the Nike styling to begin with. It certainly seems that the company has moved toward Nike styling with the Vapor XXXX.
Here are the specifications for the Bauer Supreme One 90:
Upper Features
- 3D thermoformed Tech Mesh Quarter Package
- Hydrophobic Clarino synthetic leather lining
- Exterior dual density heel wedge
- Lightweight Insta-form foam ankle pads
- Precision molded anatomical tongue with high-density metatarsal guard
- Composite power channel construction
- Full upper thermoformable footbed
Lower Features
- Perforated, full texallium composite outsole
- Tuuk Lightspeed 2 POWER with solid steel runner
If you are looking to buy the Bauer Supreme One 90 skates, the cheapest place that I could find them was on Ebay. So, I actually made it easy for you to find them by putting the Ebay auction right in this review.
You will find two different auctions going on here, but there are other Bauer One90’s being auctioned as well. If your particular size isn’t showing here, click on the auction box and it will take you to the other auctions.
If you cannot find your size on Ebay, Hockey Giant.com offers great prices on new Bauer One 90 skates.

i have a couple of friends that have the Bauer One90 Skates and they hate them. the skates started out great for my friends but have fallen apart since. all the hype about these only for them to fall apart after half a season, what a shame, hopefully the Nike Bauer Vapor XXXX’s will hold up to more wear than the One90 Skates.

Stu,
I wasn’t aware that the Bauer One90 skates were that shabby as far as durability goes. I own Vapors and I am looking forward to getting a pair of the Nike Bauer Vapor XXXX Skates when they are released.

The Bauer One90 are the best skates ever made. They’re nice whith a very cool blade and the boot is light, stiff, and comfortable. I like the form of the boots and I think they are better than the Bauer Vapor 40.

The Bauer One90 is an overhyped pile of junk! Do not waste your money on these lousy skates!!

[...] For those of you who haven’t seen or heard of the new Nike Bauer Vapor SFL XXXX Skates, they are about to be available. Rumor has it that they be available in June 2007 and will retail at about $699.99 CDN. They look very similar to the Flexlite 12’s with the TUUK Lightspeed 2 and stainless steel blade. The Vapor XXXX’s also feature a full carbon outsole and the patented light weight insta-form ankle pads. Nike Bauer consistently steps up to the plate with innovations in skate design, comfort and performance. Let’s hope that the SFL Vapor XXXX can live up to the legacy that Nike Bauer has set for themselves. They may have lost some loyal users to the New Reebok RBK 9K Pump Skate or their own Bauer One90 Skates. You can check out this picture of the new Vapor XXXX Stick being used by Eric Cole. [...]

I had the bauer one 90s and i hated them. The longer chasi is horrble it was always breaking i changed it and put the vapor 30 chasi on it and still did not like it. Pluse i went through 2 pairs the top cap fell off, the one 90s are not durable what so ever. The pro shop had the rep from easton and i bought a pair of the new stealth skates they are amazing so much lighter and durable than the one 90s.

i bought the one 90’s about 2 months ago.. sure they are an extremly light and its a great looking skate.. i havent had any durability problems so far.. there are some drop offs to this skate though such as the hardness of the skate even after wearing them 5 days a week for 2 months im not nearly breaking them in and they hurt the feet after the first period.. cant complain though got them for 400$$..

does anyone have any tips for getting these skates more comfortable for me??.. any advice would be appreciated..

Mine broke in fine and now I love them. They fit perfectly. Bake ‘em. Don’t tie them too tight or else they’ll kill your feet.

I tried a pair of one90’s and, performance and looks wise, I thought they were excellent. The longer blade really increased my skating speed and they were reasonably comfortable. I wonder about durability and comfort over the long haul.

I just got the one90s i have baked them once and wore them on the ice i could only wear them for 30 min of practice before i had to go back into the locker room and change skates becasue they killed the sides of my feet….I have been wearing them around the house now for about 1 n a half hours a day and they not getting much better…Is this normal? Will they eveantlly start to feel more comfortable?Should i bake them again?I am tieing them pretty tight should i not do that?
bob on Fri, 31st Aug 2007 8:13 pm
i got the one90 last season and they hurt the side of my feet so bad that they went numb and i tied them tight. Nikebauer should have made it that it would be comfortable no matter how tight you tied it. This season i got the stealth s15 and they are great. Their light, stiff, and very comfortable no matter how tight you tie them.

Hi guys,
I have taking in all of your comments relating to the one90’s and my head is spinning as to whether I buy these skates or not!! Can someone please explain to a simple Brit how I would go about baking these skates!! Do i just simply stick them in the oven in the kitchen? If so what temperature and for how long!! Also does this not totally melt the skates? I am going back training this season after missing 3 seasons of hockey due to personal reasons and need to buy new skates as I have a pair of CCM 1152 tacks and they are the most hideous pair of skates I have ever posessed to skate in as pro-lites is the equivalent I guess to get wearing your wife’s heels ( I simply hate them). Previously I owned a pair of daust 501’s with tuuks and they were awesome along with my old micron mega’s, bauer supreme’s etc. So what is the actually deal with the new one90’s are they good or not and if so what sort of size would I need to buy if I am a UK size 6.5 in my shoes!!!
Dennis on Fri, 21st Sep 2007 8:01 am
I have two pair of One90’s. I wore the first for about 30 hours but they were too big and my local store would not exchange them. I bought a second pair in April and have used them since then. I have noticed both pair are starting to seperate at the sides of the toe cap. The second pair that I’ve skated in for 5 months is worse than the pair with just 30 hours. The gaps are small but I can get a small flat blade screwdriver to fit inside. My local Bauer sales rep. (in St. Louis) says the One 90 is a high performance skate and not designed for durability! He says skating daily they will only last, at most, a year. I visited the Bauer website but they don’t have a “Contact Us” choice. I guess I will have to call them. On their blog the Nike Bauer CEO announced the division is up for sale. Lucky us.

I have the One90 skates and I love them. They are the most comfortable skate I have ever worn. If you buy them, I recommend getting Tuuk Custom + holders and runners over the Lightspeed Power. Most pro shops can get them ordered for you this way for an extra 50 bucks or so.

I jut bought the 0ne90′ baked them twice. I got blisters on the outide of my ankle , in the middle near the top of the skate. Anyone know how to avoid it. I am wearing socks now and trying to figure out what is cuae the blisters.

Skates hurting? I wish somebody wrote what I’m about to write so I wouldn’t have gone through some unnecessary pain trying to break my skates in. I purchased my one90’s a couple months ago. At first they were killing my ankles because the concave dimples were molded too high up on the insides of each skate. They just didn’t fit the shape of my foot there but were great everywhere else. I had them baked but this didn’t fix the problem so I called Bauer to ask if the actual hard shell part of the boot (texallium?) could be heated and reformed. They said “no”. Not happy with that answer I called a guy I knew who worked at the pro shop at the Los Angeles Kings practice facility in El Segundo. He said he had reshaped the boot of the one90’s for a few people and that it had worked out for them. So I took them down to go see my friend. He simply used a magic marker to figure out where my ankles were in the skate then disappeared into the back of the shop. Apparently he used a heat gun and reformed the location of where the ankle dimples were so that they were in the correct location for my feet. Now these things absolutely fit like a glove and are the most comfortable and responsive skates I’ve ever worn. I’m sure that this technique can be used on just about any area of the boot to get a positive fit. Just don’t expect your warranty to be any good if Bauer finds out!
gerry on Fri, 16th Nov 2007 10:17 pm
my son has a pair of one90’s and they have completly fallen apart after only 6 months. The boot has separated from the base at the heal on both skates and there is nothing you can do to fix it. The warranty is only 3 months and our retailer will not support our case to Bauer. I have tried everything from epoxy to liquid plastic and nothing will hold them together. My son is 140 lbs so its not that they were being abused. All of the vapor series we have bought over the past 5 years have all been great skates and stayed in good condition. This is the worst case of skate failure I have ever seen in buying my kids skates over the past 15 years…. and the most expensive skates we have bought.

I have a pair of one 90s and I wish I had not bought them. First they were killing my ankles. Now after almost 8 months of wearing them there are killing me where the tongue comes down the front of the boot.. If its not one thing its another with these skates. Last night at practice a small piece of the blade came off and and after 45 minutes of skating I had to leave the ice from the pain!!!!! I would not recomend these skates to anyone who plays more than once a week.

I had Graf 735 for about a month and i couldnt stand them. They say grafs are the most comfortable skate. YEA RIGHT. So i went and got these puppys. Im thinking on getting a thermablade too because my ltuuk lightspeed power is cracked bad. I think its worth the 400$ or so. What do you think?

i had the one90 skates and the blade and the holder (which everyone thinks is amazing) broke on me about 5 times. At that point i was fed up with having to go to purehockey and having them fix them for me, so i decided to buy the vapor XXXX’s. FRICKEN AMAZIN. now i have feet that i have blisters on both sides of them and they came from the one90’s but with the XXXX i feel no pain. believe me last year i couldnt play in my national championship game because my feet from the one90’s were so ripped up that i couldnt even put my feet in the skates.

If you feet are hurting or getting blisters then they dont fit right. Try a EE width not D. Mine feel GREAT!! Try on 1/2 sizes and bidder widths, also bake first thing, wear for 3 or 4 games the re-bake.

Just a quick question: I have the one 90s and the tongue pad is completely compressed across the top two lace holes from leaning forward while skating creating extreme lace bite across the ankle. I lace them up fairly tight and from all the pivoting it has worn out the tongue pad to where it is real thin. Has this happened to anyone else? I have been trying to find a shoe shop or skate shop to add extra cushion on top of the skate tongue. In addition, I am thinking of replacing the tongues with an older skate tongue that is thick enough to prevent this discomfort. Appreciate if anyone has some advice. Thanks.

I have had the One 90 skates now for 3.5 months. They are beginning to fall apart now, but that isn’t the problem at all. They kill the sides of your ankles( right below your ankles). Big bumps appear and it is highly painful. I would reccomend these skates if you skate once a week. They are the most painful skate ever. They are Terrible. Buy Vapors or some other brand. if it’s not the ankle problems it is where u tie them on the top of your foot that also kills.
Dayne on Fri, 29th Feb 2008 4:30 pm
Hey guys i can’t wiat to see what the new one 95 skates will be like. I think that thy will be way to light and way better than the one 90’s. i hope the back of the one 95’s dont break as easily as the on 90’s did because i have a pair and the back of them is already broken after 3 month. So i cant wait until the new one 95 series comes out.
mike on Tue, 11th Mar 2008 11:43 am
listen just get every high quality skate custome 20 bucks more but they stich the less durable spots and use way better glue.
Wayne Sims on Fri, 18th Apr 2008 3:41 pm
I bought a pair of one90s used. they are prostock skates from a professional player in europe I wore them for the first time yesterday and they killed my feet. I could not stand of my feet for 10 minutes after I took the skates off. The sides of my feet hurt so bad.
Performance wise they were great really lite and fast however the sides right above my ankles kept digging in to my legs and hurt like hell especially when stopping and starting. Today I have sore ass feet with welts dug in right above my ankles.
The durability of the skate is questionable because just about every used one90 I see is tore up and though most flaws not major something is coming apart on all the skates.
If anyone is interested in buying these skates they are size 9 and I would sell them cheap.
samm on Tue, 3rd Jun 2008 1:39 pm
hey i got the one90s and think theyre great!! sharp turns and really helped me take my skating/hockey to the next level.
im really curious about the vapor XXX(30s) i tried them but they didnt fit me ( from a mate ) are they a good skate?
also. i reccomend the one90s for those who like the fitting.. you can go soo fast on them ( spesh backwards!!)
NobodyIsListening on Sat, 14th Jun 2008 4:53 pm
This whole posting is absolutely ridiculous. There are dozens and dozens of people on here talking about how the One90 has completely fallen apart and is the most painful skate ever……yet amazingly half the people on here aren’t listening. Look, I agree that they look amazing. But if they fall to pieces after 3 months and feel like you’re skating on a pair of inside out soccer cleats, then it’s just not worth it. While I personally don’t like the look of the Vapor line, they ARE much more comfortable. The One95’s are out now so go give those a try and see if thy suck as well. Remember, just because it’s expensive and looks great doesn’t mean it is.
Wayne Sims on Mon, 7th Jul 2008 10:58 am
nobody listening bauer admitted themselves that the one90 didn’t fit many peoples feet that well. the skates are fast and tight but yah they don’t seem to hold up well (cosmetically) and not to mention fit right on my feet. when I wear them my feet hurt for days after not to mentions the welts left above my anknles from the skates digging in to them.
I had a freind try mine out who wears the vapor xxxx and he put it like this “its was like driving an escort comapared to his vapors which he said are like a ferrari compared to the one90s”
I have heard good reviews so far about the one95’s but all these new skates they make are so damn stiff I think thats my problem I love my old Nike’s which fit me like a glove.
samm on Mon, 27th Oct 2008 8:51 pm
lol
i got the vapor xxxxs shortly after my one90s due to the fitting problem most people have..
this whole o my god they hurt the side of my feet.. actually can be stopped cos ive had it on my vapors before and i have had sessions on my one90s where there was no pain .
also if your wondering i think the one90s allow players to go faster somehow
the vapor 40s are less hassle and last alot longer but if you really like the one90 try a pair on the ice from a friend if you can before buying them as this will help you decide if its worth the wait for them to be broken in

K i had one90’s and now I have vaporXXXX
I loved the one90’s they were very comfortable compared to the XXXX and everything about it was good. The problem was it didnt even last me 2 years, the side part of the boot (heal area) on the outside cracked. One hand holding on to the boot and the other on the holder, I can flex the boot sideways and have the boot go one way and the holder another… the quality on the exterior of the boot was absolute shit. I paid so much for these and at the end, i had to super glue the crack to finish my remaining tournament….
Vapor XXXX i switched to afterwards.. i missed the XXX’s line up but i had really high expectations for XXXX as I loved the XX and those XX are by far the most consistent and dependable skates. Best of its era. The XXXX felt way more stiffer than the one90s. One90s took me 2-3 weeks to get used to with 3-4 ice times per week. The vapor XXXX took me 2 weeks but the pain was too much and i decided to tie the boots looser and I had to have my tongue out due to the bigger and fatter tongue, compared to the softer narrower tongue of the one90s. Now almost 11 months after… my ankle tendons are messed up. THe tongue is way to hard and digs right into my ankles when i push off. Im out for 1.5 month.
So here it is… from experience:
One90 : comfortable, tongue is smaller and softer, in my opinion it is more well rounded…
XXXX : more reliable as the boot is stronger than the one90, everything is what u would expect from a vapor. Lightweight and good for performance. But, it does lack the inviting comfort of the one90, the tongue and the entire boot is a bit stiff too, not as much as the one90s. Prefer the tongue on one90 more… if u got a choice, get them customized, XXXX wont disappoint.
High end skates from NBH are getting super stiff… i miss my XX days…
Dean Pipher on Sat, 20th Dec 2008 2:41 pm
I have recently bought a pair of one 95’s and although I can tell it has the potetial to be the absolute best pair of skates I have ever owned, I cannot however seem to get past the break in period. I have been playing 5-6 times a week on average and I have blisters and open sores above the ankles that are not healing no matter how much additional padding (gel pads) and ankle wrapping I am doing (not that I should have to do this). One thing I have noted is that by not lacing the boot very tightly has taken some edge off the pain I endure while skating. Damn this skate has improved my skating stride but at a cost that I am not sure I can endure any longer. Has any one else had similar experience’s and found a solution. I would appreciate anyones suggestions.
BTW I have baked the boot twice and my retailer has suggested that I do not do this again.
