Protecting ‘The Boys’ With Shock Doctor

TitanAlloyFlexCupIf you’re anything like me (and a lot of the hockey players I know) purchasing a new cup and supporter isn’t on the top of the list at the start of the hockey season.

Normally, if the old one still fits and the cup is still in one piece, we’re good for another season.

Until I tried out the Titan Alloy Flex anatomically designed cup and Ultra Supporter from Shock Doctor, I didn’t realize the comfort (and protection) I have been missing out on.

Of course, this doesn’t have the power to change your game like a new pair of skates, or the latest composite stick might, but there really is a difference in comfort and mobility that I didn’t know existed. It does weigh a little more than the carbon fiber and plastic cups I have worn in the past, but the additional few ounces were not noticeable during play.

Titan Alloy Flex Fit and Comfort

The cup narrows and contours at the bottom, making it anatomically correct, and does not obstruct movement of the thighs during the stride. The supporter, while using the classic design, is enhanced with the X-fit technology which is breathable, flexible and keeps the cup firmly in place during the entire game.

The gel pad that surrounds the outer edges of the cup is comfortable and flexible. My original concern was that the steel cup would dig into my legs, but the gel pad along with the Ultra supporter put those concerns to rest soon after I stepped onto the ice.

I didn’t get a chance to test the cup for impact (thank goodness) but made of alloy steel, I’m venturing to guess that it will protect from impact as well as any other on the market. It is advertised as ‘unbreakable’ – I think I’ll just take their word for it.

If this year is the year for you to break down and purchase a new cup, take a look at the Titan Alloy Flex cup from Shock Doctor. It retails for around $20-$25 and might be just what you’re looking for…I know that I was pleasantly surprised.
