The World’s largest hockey stick was found during a quick search on Flickr. At first we thought we would find Zdeno Chara’s stick, but we were mistaken.
Zdeno Chara shoots Left and this giant stick at the Cowichan Community Centre in Duncan, British Columbia is a Right-Hand shot!

Facts on the World’s Biggest Hockey Stick & Puck:
- The World’s Largest Hockey Stick & Puck is 40 times life size.
- The shaft and blade of the stick are made in sections with steel-reinforced Douglas Fir beams measuring 3 foot by 4 foot (91.44 cm by 1.2192 m) for a total length of 205 feet (62.48 metres).
- The stick weighs 28,118 kg (61,000 pounds) and was built in Penticton BC. The final product was trucked to Vancouver in two pieces, spliced together on the ground, then lifted into position on August 21, 1985.
- After the fair in Vancouver, the hockey stick was transported to Vancouver Island by barge and 3 flat bed trucks exactly two years later, on August 21, 1987.
- The World’s Largest Hockey Stick & Puck was dedicated at the Cowichan Community Centre in Duncan on May 21, 1988, two years to the day after Expo ’86 opened.
The Guinness Book of World Records officially granteded the title of World’s Largest Hockey Stick on July 14, 2008 after a 20-year battle for recognition. At one third the length of Duncan’s stick, residents of Eveleth, Minnesota can no longer claim their 21-metre wooden hockey stick to be the biggest.

Easton S19 Hockey Stick

Easton S19 Hockey Stick
After using the new Easton S19 stick for a couple of weeks, I have come to the conclusion that it is much improved from the previous Easton S17 stick and definitely deserves some attention from those who may have dismissed Easton and the new S19 after troubles they may have had with the S17.
Improved: S19 vs. S17
One of the main issues that many players reported with the Easton S17 stick was the fact that the stick did not perform as indicated by the flex pattern. That is to say that a 100 Flex played more like an 85 Flex. And, those of you who play a lot of hockey know that a stick that plays to the appropriate Flex is very important in maintaining consistency. This is one of the issues that has been addressed with the S19 stick.
Another issue that folks reported with the S17 was the lack of durability in both the lower shaft (the elliptical portion of the stick) and in the blade. These areas have been reinforced in the S19 and offer more durability and are less prone to the torque problems that were evident with the S17.
The Easton S19 is still a very light stick, even with the increased durability, it weighs in at 460 grams. However, you will notice that the kick point has been pushed up the shaft and away from the blade just slightly versus the S17.
Overall Impression
Overall, the Easton S19 stick is improved from the S17, has maintained it’s balance, the blade remains lively and the issues of durability and inconsistent Flex appear to have been addressed. All in all, the S19 definitely deserves to be tested along side the other top of the line hockey sticks when you’re in the market for a new weapon!
Where to Buy
The S19 stick is available now and you can find it online with Free Shipping at Total Hockey.net for less than $250.00.
Bauer One 95 Stick

One of the most used sticks in the National Hockey League today is the new Bauer One95. As the
2008-2009 Season wears on, more and more Nike Bauer sponsored players are switching from the Vapor XXXX and the One90 sticks to the new Bauer One95 stick.
One95 Specifications
The new Supreme One95 is designed with the powerful player in mind. The stick is very rigid in the lower third of the shaft and can withstand substantial loading. The Monocomp technology helps to optimize weight and balance by reducing the need for additional composite at the joints, without sacrificing the integrity and strength of the stick.
The rigidity of the lower portion of the shaft on the One95 offers a low-mid flex, developing additional
energy transfer and increased velocity – especially using the Slapshot. Reduced torsion is accomplished by using the .520 Power Taper that also helps to enable the loading of the stick.
The feel and aesthetics of the stick are highly advanced from the One90 as well. The One95 offers a matte black finish with detailed, but subdued graphics along a double concave shaft to enhance grip and feel. An advanced tactile texture also offers a 10 gram reduction in overall weight versus comparable sticks.
Buying The One95 Stick
The One95 retails for $219.00, but can be found for well under $200.00 online at Total Hockey.net.
Total Hockey also offers free shipping on all orders over $99.00!
TPS Response R10 Stick

By varying the flex throughout the shaft, the TPS Response R10 PTC (Power Transfer Channel) Hockey Stick is the most revolutionary composite stick ever released by the company.
The response R10 has been designed to offer a more complete loading phase and a balanced flex pattern that extends throughout the entire shaft.
This patented flex design has resulted in livelier shots and quicker reaction. The shaft also features a very long taper that provides a nice feel for the puck when coupled with extra-thin blade.
The Shaft features a concave design, with the lower portion of the shaft receiving a Grip finish. I would suggest that anyone who does not like the “Grip” shafts because they are too sticky for puck control, try out the Response R10. The upper portion of the shaft remains smooth, increasing puck control, while the lower portion adds grip for shooting.
At 425 Grams the Response R10 is a full 5 grams heavier than the CCM U+ Stick as well as the Bauer Vapor XXX Lite and the Warrior Kronik.
Features of The TPS Response R10
- PTC Power Transfer Channel in blade hozel for a livelier blade & improved puck trajectory
- Redistributed perimeter material for livelier cross section & impact resistance
- Thin blade design for improved feel & trajectory on shots
- Ultra-lite dynamic weighting optimizes balance for lighter “In Motion” feel
- 100% Carbon construction
- Variable Flex shaft: 80/105/115 (top/mid/taper)
- 30 Day Manufacturer’s Warranty

CCM U+ Hockey Stick

The CCM Vector U+ Stick is the follow-up to the highly touted CCM U+ Skates and the latest release from the research and design team at CCM. The CCM U+ is the most well balanced composite stick ever produced by the company and features a host of innovative features.
Blade Construction
The newly designed carbon blade is very rigid and yet super light, which makes for an extremely great feel for the puck. The shaft features a 24” taper that increases the ability to “load” energy into the stick, while the hollowpoint system energy transfer sends energy to the player’s hands for increased control.
This technology is what most players are interested in and is identifiable by the partially hollowed out heel of the blade that is colored in white.
Durability
It will be interesting to note how the hollow affects the durability of the stick over the long-term. This technology will lead to just as many, if not more, questions about durability than the holes in the shaft of the RBK 9K O-Tech.
Shaft Features
The shaft also features a new contour that is shaped like the letter “C”. This contour is ergonomically correct, providing better comfort and enhanced stick control. The carbon fibre composite shaft construction is balanced for performance and durability, including a 360 degree woven wrap to increase strength and durability.
Although the CCM U+ stick is lighter and more durable than their previous models, Mission’s use of titanium in their new Ti-Pro stick allows it great durability at under 420 grams.
The CCM U+ stick is also available in a Grip version for those of you who prefer more control. It will ultimately come down to personal preference when comparing CCM U+ Grip to the likes of the Warrior Kronik Nipple Grip or the Vapor XXXX stick.

After our review of the Vapor XXXX skates, many readers have asked about the arrival of the Vapor XXXX Stick and the Vapor XXXX Gloves.
The Vapor XXXX stick has recently been released to pro players and Eric Cole of the Carolina Hurricanes was one of the first NHL players seen using the stick.
Benefits and Features
Preliminary analysis says that they are good for wrist shots, but people are preferring the Nike Bauer One90 Stick for slapshots. However, this is always a personal preference and most people will enjoy the performance as well as the look of the new Bauer Vapor XXXX Stick.
The Vapor XXXX stick features a long tapered shaft and thinner shaft walls for easier loading and a very quick release. The news Direct Energy Transfer technology allows for great feel of the puck on the blade and more accurate shooting.
Vapor XXXX Stick Design
The walls of the shaft are concave and feature rounded corners that feel more natural when holding the stick. All in all the Vapor XXXX is a well balanced high end hockey stick that measures up to the Stealth S17 and the RBK 9K-O.
