Ten Questions For Hockey Fans

It is a new month and I thought I would take time to reflect on some thoughts I had on the league. So, over the past week I had several conversations with devout hockey fans, writers and media members. Most were in still in shock from the All-Star weekend and the events surrounding it – I can’t blame them.
There were, however, consistent themes that developed in all of the conversations and I wanted to run a few questions by you as a reader of NHL Digest and a hockey fan. If you have a comment or an answer to one of the questions, I urge you to please leave it on the site at the end of the article. I really am looking for your opinions on these questions – so don’t hold back!
- Did the players participating in the new “Breakaway Challenge” know anything about the contest before they stepped on the ice?
- Is there any explanation as to why the league would announce the games to be held in Europe next fall before the Players gave their approval?
- Did the camera guy skating behind the players at the All Star Super Skills competition realize that he was providing the worst camera angle in television history?
- Did Barry Melrose actually pick the Montreal Canadiens to win the conference, or was that just his mullet talking?
- Did Dallas really give Mike Ribeiro $5 Million a season? His stats look good, but I haven’t seen much of him this season – Maybe because have seats in the corner!
- Does it even matter who the Leafs hire as a GM?
- Is anyone in the league better than Alex Ovechkin…Really?
- Does Gary Bettman look like Pee-Wee Herman to you?
- Will Forsberg return to the NHL this season?
- The Ducks are visiting the White House to be honored by President Bush – Do you actually think he gives a crap?
As mentioned, I encourage you to please leave your comments below. Some of the questions may seem rhetorical, but I’d love to hear what your thoughts on these matters are.

1-I don’t think they knew what they were going to do.But other then Ovechkin it was pretty boring.But a nice
stealing the idea from the NBA Bettman.
2-I think Bettman maybe thought he had another NHLPA puppet in Kelly.But he doesn’t and i think it does nothing but good things for the NHL having this New nhlpa guy.
3-the camera angle was bad,yes.This was the camera guys first job since he was let go by Vince Mcmhan in the failed XFL.
4-Barry Melrose has the prettiest mullet in North America.The mullet must have been talking after hours of being lathered in the finest shampoo money can buy.So yes the mullet was talking.
5-Ribero is a better fit in the lone star state but he is not worth that kind of money.I vote Mike R for weirdest looking hockey player.
6-All the decisions seem to come from the big wigs in that organization anyways.So i guess a face in the Leafs GM box just needs a face for the HNIC cameras for them.I have heard rumors they have spoken to Mike Myers for the GM position.LOL
7-Alex the great is the best player in the league yes.I perfer to watch him over the over hyped Crosby.Ovechkin is the MOST exciting player in this game hands down.
8-I think Gary Bettman looks more like the count from Sesame Street.
9-Yes Forsberg will return to the NHL. I think he will help Briere and the Flyers to a first round playoff exit.
10-Bush invited the Ducks to the White House because he thought they were a smartly named oil company from Iran coming to talk about business.

Ribero at $5 million, that is scary. I can’t imagine what the asking price for players who actually go in the corners and kill penalties would be. Ovechkin should be getting $25 mill. a year if Ribero commands $5 mill. He has always put up decent numbers, but vanishes in the playoffs and avoids the corners are all costs.

Maybe someone didn’t tell them that anything goes? Ovechkin and Getzlaf only got the memo I suppose
2. Is there any explanation as to why the league would announce the games to be held in Europe next fall before the Players gave their approval? To Piss them off…only thing I can think of…lol, either that or there was some miscommunication along the lines
3. Did the camera guy skating behind the players at the All Star Super Skills competition realize that he was providing the worst camera angle in television history? Actually he probably did, but VS said “no man thats a coool angle!”
4. Did Barry Melrose actually pick the Montreal Canadiens to win the conference, or was that just his mullet talking? Surprised he didn’t pick the Red Wings to win…I do not like Melrose
5. Did Dallas really give Mike Ribeiro $5 Million a season? His stats look good, but I haven’t seen much of him this season – Maybe because have seats in the corner! Seems a little high, but then again look at the Mike Richards deal…even though he’s having great success, that long of deal is too long
6. Does it even matter who the Leafs hire as a GM? No because they will still lose

Why is Crosby the face of the nhl? Ovechkin is better, he loves scoring, doesn’t wine *opps* I said that? And he just LOVES the game, he scores, he sets up plays, he checks and he fights…rare for a non-north American player
8. Does Gary Bettman look like Pee-Wee Herman to you? A puggy Pee_Wee herman
9. Will Forsberg return to the NHL this season? I think its 50/50…Philly will be saying hi Forsberg, bye Carter!
10. The Ducks are visiting the White House to be honored by President Bush – Do you actually think he gives a crap? No, now if it was NASCAR then maybe, he claims he’s a big NASCAR fan lol, but I don’t think most of the Ducks players care neither, who thought of this?
